Head Cross Country Coach (High School):
Kristine Miller (IHSA Certified) - If you would have told me 10 years ago that I would have not only run my first marathon in Rome, Italy but also I would have had the opportunity to train folks from couch to 5Ks to ½ marathons successfully
and later become a RRCA certified running coach who is about to assist in coaching a school’s cross
country team, I would have said you must have me mixed up someone else. So here I am embarking on
a new adventure. One I have been praying for and patiently waiting to do for several years. I trusted
God to provide the training and opportunities necessary to obtain this goal. While waiting, God enabled
me to run with, train and witness to others, and show the parallels of running a race to that of our faith.
I have raced in various of distances and even placed numerous of times in my age group and in the
masters’ division. I am by no means an elite runner, in fact, I consider myself an average ‘master’ runner
who preserves, falls but chooses to get back up, encourages others to join me, and overall enjoys the
sport of running. One of my favorite verses for running and in life comes from Isaiah 40:29-31.
My goal as a running coach is to assist new and experienced runners in improving their personal times
and run with integrity the glorifies God. I would rather have a runner help another runner in need than
to pass him/her and win the race. While winning the race would be great, it soon will be forgotten but
sacrificing your race to help someone else is eternal.
I have been married to my amazing and supportive husband for almost 23 years. He has encouraged me
in my pursuit for running and coaching. We are blessed with four daughters ages ranging 11 to 17. They
are a big part why I run and continue to try new things. I want them to see it’s never too late to begin
something new, that hard work does pay off, being the best shouldn’t be the goal rather being YOUR
best should, and that talents/interests/things given by God can be used to glorify Him.
This will be Coach Miller's third season at FBA. She will focus on working with our high school kids and will assist with our junior high teams.
